1. Determine if search spiders can crawl your website. Many of real estate websites are not entirely crawlable by search spiders and this is a huge problem. All the content in the world will do you no good if you have a site that doesn’t allow search engines free reign.
2. Blog every day. If you blog everyday about the area in which you sell, you will begin to get rankings on your blog as well as your website. Just think! Your written material will be visible on the web by the ENTIRE PLANET, 24 HOURS per day, 7 DAYS per week, 365 DAYS a year for INFINITY. Think it’s worth a few minutes to sit down and dump your brain into your blog? (I thought so!)
3. Write content to your site that’s unique and relevant. Content is still king on the web. It’s all about text. Get rid of the giant photos of you and luxury houses you prefer to sell. Stop worrying so much about the way the site looks and spend more energy generating content, taking photos of local landmarks, neighborhoods and area details. This will make your site popular because most agents are too busy to take the time to write or hire someone.
4. Spend more money and time marketing online. People are going online to buy houses and to get local information. Google serves up answers to the questions your market is asking. The Agent or Brokerage that provides the right information at the right time with the least hassle will build rapport with savvy home shoppers and Google all at the same time.
5. Generate traffic to your website. The more traffic you generate to your website or blog, the higher your rankings will be on Google. Think of creative ways to attract attention to your site and cause people to visit. Ideas: Place ads on local online sites, run a PPC campaign, put up a billboard with your domain name, run a direct mail campaign that directs people to your site, add great tools to your site that no one else has, send your staff to your website for things they need. The list goes on and on.
6. Send a really good email newsletter regularly. Don’t just sit back and wait for people to find you! A good email newsletter will cause people to be interested in your site and stop by for a visit. The newsletter should be aimed at your niche clientele and should contain relevant information that they want to know. When Google sees that your site is getting traffic from the newsletters, your site will automatically receive a boost in rankings. Offering a newsletter sign-up on your site is also a great way to boost your database of prospects.
7. Make sure your site is optimized. Your website needs to be optimized if you want to get higher rankings on Google. Make sure your meta tags are done correctly and that you have strong keyword density on each page with text-based navigation buttons. There are 100s of SEO factors to consider, but following just a few can help your site climb higher in the rankings.
8. Get involved on the web through social networking. Visit other blogs and forums to give your two cents. Making comments on other sites that give a link back to your website or blog will help increase your search engine rankings.
9. Write articles and submit them to online article sites. Whenever you get a chance, write articles pertinent to your market for submitting to article submission sites like articlesonline.com or goarticles.com. Be sure to add a hyyperlink back to your website for optimal results.
10. Advertise with online home related sites. Did you know that upgrades at Realtor.com can help your search rankings if done properly? It’s true. Anything that drives traffic to your website will help increase your rankings if your website is built to communicate properly with the search spiders / crawlers.
