How to Transfer Your Domain & Set-Up Email at GoDaddy

This article explains the set-up procedures for email.

The Marketing Shop.com does not handle direct POP of email. If you wish to have an email address with your domain name, such as julie@thisismydomainname.com, you must either set-up your own in-house Exchange Server, or set-up your Email POP with a third party such as GoDaddy. We work well with GoDaddy and recommend them for email hosting. The Marketing Shop.com will continue to host your website, and GoDaddy will handle your email. You do not need this service if you already have an email address. We provide Email Forwarding only.

Please Note: Domain registration is different from domain hosting. You will most likely have a different company managing the registration of your domain than the one who does your hosting, though not always.

Getting Control of Your Domain Name

You need to get control of your domain registration. You need to have it transferred
somewhere that you know so you can know where it is at all times. These things can
be sold (kinda like your home mortgage). We recommend making sure that your domain is registered at GoDaddy .

Instructions for Transfering your Domain to Godaddy

    1. Set-up a Free Godaddy account.

    2. Find out who holds the rights to your domain registration. (Ask your TMS Support Representative, or look-up your site here: WhoIs

    3. Contact that company and request a domain transfer to GoDaddy.

    4. Fill out the required paperwork to transfer your domain registration to GoDaddy.

    5. Call GoDaddy (open 24 hours a day) and purchase the Email POP service. To eliminate website outtages, let your Godaddy representative know that The Marketing Shop.com will handling the hosting of your website.

    6. GoDaddy will assist you in setting up your email and will be the contact for all future email related issues.
