Social Grid : “A Transferrable Network”
Your “Social Grid” is the term for the people within your network across different social media platforms. The consenses is that you should be able to take your Social Grid with you wherever you go, so that you’re not tied to one form of social media over another, such as Facebook or Twitter. As you can imagine, new social media sites are cropping up rapidly, and eventually other sites will gain popularity. You don’t want to be stuck to a website because your network is there. You need freedom to change your activities with the innovation of new of social web technologies.
The emerging idea is that your Social Grid should expand across all platforms. It’s better to have a dynamic social grid that moves with you from media to media as opposed to a static network that is limited to only one site. Having your network on only one social media site can be detrimental in the event that site shuts down, kicks you out or becomes incapacitated. It’s important that your Social Grid (or network) be transferrable among a variety of social media platforms.
